We’re excited to announce an upcoming poetry reading in honor of James Baldwin, presented by JBS and Dr. Al-Tariq Moore entitled, A Requiem for Jimmy. The reading highlights Baldwin’s philosophies and snapshots of critical moments in his biography. Mark your calendars and join us for this event!

JBS Fall 2025 Internship applications are now available. Any students in need of elective credit who are interested in applying can do so by downloading and completing the application document provided below. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 2.8 GPA
- Must complete and submit a JBSEI application by 3/25
- Must submit one letter of recommendation from an NCCU faculty member.
- Must agree to membership in The James Baldwin Society
- Interest in African American Literature, James Baldwin, Black LGBTQ+ fiction/non-fiction, OR Black & Black Queer Experience.
- Must meet with internship director weekly.
- Will design a research project that aligns with outlined interests with the faculty advisor (Dr. Moore).
- Will assist in the administrative and organizational duties of The James Baldwin Society.
INTERNSHIP:
- Unpaid.
- Earns 3 CR hours.
- Duration is one semester.
- Self-Paced.
- Identifies research training needs and skills acquisition goals.
- Works to develop targeted areas of academic, organizational, and administrative need.
- Produces research publication content.
- Provides 1-on-1 research training with advisor.
- Enhances writing proficiency.
- Enhances presentation skills.
- Must engage with NCCU Language and Literature community through oral (or video) presentation of final research findings and content.
